BayFirst Awarded DHS CBP SMART Tool Contract

BayFirst Solutions has been awarded a prime contract by the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to develop an automated data collection tool for facility site reviews and assessments.
BayFirst, with ABS Consulting as partner, will work with the Security Management Division within the Office of Internal Affairs to standardize physical security assessment processes and procedures and develop and maintain an electronic data repository for all assessment data. Additionally, the program will provide support for the NIPP risk management framework through the generation of normalized quantitative risk metrics and associated parameters and will enable the quantitative assessment of risk reduction based on specific proposed countermeasures. This contract recognizes BayFirst's ability to create and implement technological solutions that result in long term benefits for the client's organization.

BayFirst Wins TSA Risk Assessment Contract

BayFirst was awarded a new prime contract from the Highways and Motor Carriers (HMC) Division of the Transportation Security Administration.
For HMC, BayFirst will be conducting risk assessments of the over-the-road-bus transportation industry, commercial trucking and port interface, and highway infrastructure. BayFirst will draw upon its past work with TSA by integrating these risk assessments with previously completed risk assessments of the school bus transportation and the trucking and hazardous material trucking (HAZMAT) industries. This contract recognizes BayFirst's specialized risk management team and capabilities. The continued relationship with TSA is a reflection of BayFirst's history of superior work in the risk management field.

TSA Awards Schoolbus and Truck/Hazmat Truck Security-related Risk Management Contract to BayFirst

BayFirst Solutions has been awarded a contract by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide risk assessment, analysis and management services in support of highway transportation security requirements outlined in the recently passed Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (HR1).
BayFirst, with ABS Consulting and Transportation Research Associates (TRA) as partners, will work with the Highways and Motor Carriers Division within TSA Transportation Sector Network Management (TSNM) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the risk of a terrorist attack on the Nation's school bus transportation system and a comprehensive assessment on truck security and hazmat truck security. Building upon BayFirst’s recent work conducting the Air Domain Risk Assessment (ADRA) and National Transportation Sector Risk Assessment (NTSRA), these risk assessments will aggressively engage a very wide group of stakeholders within government, industry, labor, and the response community, using a Government Accountability Organization (GAO)-approved process that incorporates the identified threats, system vulnerabilities and security consequences, as well as deriving system sensitivities to enhance countermeasures related to protection of critical infrastructures and systems.

BayFirst Delivers at CSUN

Jeff Singleton and Thomas Logan from BayFirst’s Seattle office both presented groundbreaking presentations at the 2008 California State University at Northridge (CSUN) Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference.
Jeff’s presentation was to a near-capacity audience and was on the subject of writing complete and effective technical bug reports for accessibility issues. Jeff applied his knowledge and experience as a software tester and developed a simple yet extremely effective and proven way to have issues documented, noticed, and fixed by major software companies. This method can be utilized by both professional QA personnel as well as end-users. This was well-received by an appreciative audience at CSUN, the world’s largest conference on IT accessibility.
BayFirst continued its leadership role by having Thomas Logan demonstrate a screen reader for the New York Times that he developed around Microsoft’s UI Automation framework, the company’s future model for accessibility. Thomas demonstrated accessibility benefits in Microsoft’s UIA framework that were previously unavailable to screen reader technologies—thus raising the bar for what users with disabilities can expect from AT and IT vendors.
