BayFirst to Review Section 508 Federal Government Compliance in Collaboration with GSA
August 8, 2005

BayFirst Solutions LLC is proud to be awarded a GSA Center for Information Technology Accommodation (CITA) contract to provide project management support. For this task, BayFirst will analyze data collected in response to the Department of Justice’s 2003 Section 508 Compliance Survey, involving submissions from over 80 Federal agencies. Using this data, BayFirst will analyze trends and gaps in the Federal Government’s overall Section 508 compliance strategy.

"I can’t stress enough how important it is for the Government to understand how Section 508 is being implemented across the agencies seven years after it was signed into law," said Ken Nakata, Director of Disability Initiatives and Government Compliance. “This data help GSA and other government agencies find their strengths and weaknesses, and allow us to create more precise strategies to ensure full Section 508 compliance across all agencies.”

“This award fits in well with our core strengths,” added Robert Rice, President of BayFirst. “Of course, Ken brings his expertise as a 12-year Department of Justice veteran and the Federal government’s leading legal expert on the convergence of IT and disability rights laws. But, these skills also fit in perfectly with BayFirst’s historically strong background in systems engineering and program management. This award reflects our unique ability to help Federal agencies implement new programs like Section 508 with minimal disruption to people and existing processes and technologies.”

BayFirst will also provide expert advice towards modifying CITA’s website to increase its usefulness and accessibility.
